Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps took a rather interesting move on Thursday and posted a strategy for attacking U.S. warships — on Twitter.
The Good Morning Iran blog translated the text accompanying the image. The plan hinges on deception and stealth to deal with an enemy that possesses overwhelming firepower.
Any ships that entered the Persian Gulf would be attacked by Iranian speed boats disguised as commercial fishing boats, The Aviationist reported. Once preoccupied with the missiles of the Iranian speedboats, the targeted ship would then be attacked by Iranian submarines, followed by its air force.
The Aviationist noted that the plan would be “obviously quite optimistic,” since U.S. warships would be within a “very well defended Carrier Strike Group, which includes an aircraft carrier, destroyers, supporting vessels and, often, a nuclear submarine.”
