Michigan House approves Ringler as Auditor General

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The state House has approved the appointment of Doug Ringler as Michigan’s Auditor General.

Ringler is Michigan’s chief audit executive under Gov. Rick Snyder. He has worked for the state for 17 years, including 10 years in the Auditor General’s office.

The Auditor General reviews financial transactions and accounts for all of the state government’s branches.

The resolution to appoint Ringler now goes to the Senate. The appointment is for an eight-year term beginning June 9.

Ringler was recommended for the job after a bipartisan national search.

Republican House Speaker Jase Bolger says “it was encouraging to discover the best person” for the job “was already here.”
