OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Police say a loaded gun found in a restroom at the University of Oklahoma Children’s Hospital belonged to a prison guard who had taken an inmate to the hospital.
Authorities say the female inmate was taken to the hospital Feb. 26 to give birth and the guard went to the restroom, where she left a loaded 9 millimeter handgun.
No names were released.
University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Police Chief James Albertson told KOCO (https://bit.ly/1cN9inf ) that the weapon was found by a woman who notified authorities.
Albertson says the weapon was returned to the Department of Corrections and a report was filed with the district’s attorney’s office.
The Corrections Department says it is investigating the incident.
