RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - An 11-year-old boy was badly injured when in a pit bull attack at a Southern California home.
The Riverside County Department of Animal Services says the boy was playing in a den with friends at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon when the dog lunged at him.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise (https://bit.ly/1fDfdwb) reports that the boy was able to fight off the first lunge with a pool cue, but the dog attacked again, biting him in the mouth and leaving him with a severe lower lip injury.
Animal Services says they believe the attack was not provoked, and the 2-year-old female pit bull was surrendered for euthanasia.
The identity of the boy and the owners were not released.
