EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - The Snohomish County Public Utility District hopes to have a study of a proposed dam on the South Fork Skykomish River ready for public comment early next year.

The plan for the study has been approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

The utility still hopes to resolve differences with the Tulalip Tribes to make sure the dam doesn’t hurt downstream migration of juvenile salmon.

The Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1hYJisg) the $133 million dam project would use a 7-foot inflatable weir to divert water to a power house. It could generate enough electricity for about 10,000 homes.
