ALTOONA, Ala. (AP) - Etowah County officials are investigating the death of a person whose body was found inside a burning SUV near Altoona.
Deputy Coroner Michael Head says members of a volunteer fire department responded to a call about a fire early Thursday morning and found a burning SUV with a person sitting in the front passenger seat. Head says investigators believe the victim was a man.
Authorities say the man and vehicle were burned beyond recognition. Officials say the man’s body has been sent to Huntsville for an autopsy.
