PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The mayor of South Dakota’s capital has filed petitions to run for a third term.
Pierre Mayor Laurie Gill was first elected in 2008, after nine years as a city commissioner. She ran unopposed in the 2011 election.
KCRR-AM reports that no one else has circulated petitions for Pierre’s mayor. The filing deadline is Tuesday.
The election is June 3. The mayor’s seat will be the only city position to appear on the ballot.
