ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) - The city of Rockford is looking for a new contract to buy electricity.
The Rockford Register Star reports (https://bit.ly/1j7GERr) that the city’s two-year contract to power from FirstEnergy Solutions expires in September. City officials say they’ll start looking for a new supplier next month. That’s when they’ll ask companies for proposals and see which one has the best rates.
A local environmental group has asked the city to require a certain percentage of its energy come from clean sources such as wind or solar power.
