BOSTON (AP) - Las Vegas casino operator Steve Wynn is seeking a reduction in the share of gambling revenues the state would take if his company is approved to build a casino in Everett.

The Boston Herald (https://bit.ly/1iPyFvP ) reported Thursday that Wynn, in a memo to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, suggested he be subject to the same tax that would be applied to a tribal casino proposed in Taunton by the Mashpee Wampanoag.

The state’s gambling law requires casino operators to pay a 25 percent tax on gambling revenues. But a separate compact between Gov. Deval Patrick and the Mashpee calls for a 17 percent tax if the casino is the only one built in southeastern Massachusetts.
