A Wisconsin beer company’s attempt to serve suds to Minnesota ice fishermen via drone went swimmingly — that is, until the government intervened.
Lakemaid President Jack Supple told the Journal on Thursday that the government was “nice” but insistent about nixing the beer deliveries.
“Yesterday and the day before we’ve had calls from the FAA,” he said.
Mr. Supple lamented not being able to complete the test run on the lake, which he said “looks like a drone airport.”
“Our core audience is very ready for this technology,” he said. “It seems to me to be the perfect place to try this as opposed to bouncing off lampposts and church steeples in the city.”
The FAA is scheduled to revisit drone rules in 2015, the Journal reported.
