SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A Spokane police officer whose 10-year-old daughter accidentally shot herself in the leg in 2012 with his gun has resigned.
The police department says Officer Barry O’Connell submitted paperwork Monday for retirement.
KREM reports (https://bit.ly/LuMroM) he had been place on leave in November and was being investigated for inadequate response and false reporting. The department did not provide details of the internal investigation but said the misconduct was unrelated to his daughter’s accident two years ago.
