RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Passenger traffic at Richmond International Airport dropped by about 2 percent in January compared to the same month in 2013.

The airport reports 222,882 passengers in January, down from 227,613 in January 2013.

More than 12 percent of the month’s schedule, 512 flights, was cancelled because of major snowstorms that affected origin and destination cities.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1hompzi ) reports that the passenger figures were presented Tuesday at a meeting of the Capital Region Airport Commission.

The Richmond airport serves about 3.2 million passengers a year.
