JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - A bill introduced in the Alaska House would require law enforcement agencies to adopt specific procedures for conducting lineups.

The bill, from Rep. Scott Kawasaki, says the procedures must require that an officer has recorded as complete a description as possible of a perpetrator from an eyewitness. The statement would have to include details such as the lighting, weather conditions and any impairments to the eyewitness’ vision.

Admissibility of an eyewitness identification as evidence would not be precluded by the failure of an agency to adopt the procedures.
