NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Police are investigating the death of an unidentified man who was found shot in the head in New Haven.

Police say investigators are working to identify the victim they believe to be is in his mid-20s.

Authorities say paramedics from the fire department were sent to the area of East Pearl Street at Pierpont Street to help a man reported to be unconscious. They determined that the victim had been shot dead and they called the police.



Authorities suggest that the victim may have been shot elsewhere before his body was dumped in New Haven. Police say emergency dispatchers had received no reports of gunshots anywhere in the city before the victim was discovered.

Police urge anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to call New Haven police detectives.
