Bill Cosby has resigned his post with the Board of Trustees at Temple University, his alma mater.

The school put out a statement saying the resignation — which was accepted — comes in the midst of growing sexual assault allegations against the comedy icon, Reuters reported.

“The Board of Trustees accepts Dr. Cosby’s resignation form the board and thanks him for his service to the university,” the Philadelphia university said in a statement reported by Reuters.

Mr. Cosby’s been accused of committing sexual assault and rape by more than a dozen women. He’s steadfastly denied the crimes and has not been convicted of any of them.

He put out a brief statement about his resignation: “I have always been proud of my association with Temple University. I have always wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students,” Reuters reported.
