NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The University of Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team has won its fifth straight NCAA regional championship and advances to the NCAA Championships.
OU finished ahead of second-place Illinois while Minnesota was third, California fourth, Southern Utah fifth and San Jose State sixth in the regional on Saturday in Minneapolis. OU and Illinois advance the NCAA Championship scheduled for April 18-20 in Birmingham, Ala., where OU has been seeded second.
OU’s Maile’ana Kanewa won the regional vault title with a 9.975 and finished second on floor with a 9.925 while Chayse Capps tied for top honors on the balance beam.
