MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County District Attorney’s officials say a man has been sentenced on battery charges in an attack on his 2-month-old son.

Prosecutors said in a release Monday that 31-year-old Joseph Rucker McFall of Austell was sentenced to 30 years after pleading guilty to five counts of aggravated battery against his son.

Prosecutors say the boy suffered head injuries, fractured bones in both arms and a fractured rib.

The boy’s mother testified in court, saying the attacks left her son with lifelong injuries. The boy, now 20-months-old, is legally blind and prosecutors say he may not be able to walk, talk or behave normally.

McFall told the court that his son’s injuries were accidental.
