Connick will play a psychiatrist who puts a young man under hypnosis to help him quit smoking, only to reveal his patient’s former life as a female jazz singer.

The 43-year-old singer spent the summer of 2010 in “Harry Connick, Jr. in Concert on Broadway.”

Producers made the announcement Tuesday.
