MANCHESTER, ENGLAND (AP) - Manchester United says Wayne Rooney has agreed to a new five-year contract, keeping him with the Premier League club until June 2015.

After holding talks with United, Rooney says he is “delighted to sign another deal at United … I’ve talked to the manager and the owners and they’ve convinced me this is where I belong.”

The England striker said earlier this week he did not intend to extend his contract at United beyond 2012 because he was unhappy with the club’s lack of ambition.
