President Obama at the White House on Monday formally announced he is nominating John O. Brennan (right) to be director of the CIA and Chuck Hagel to be secretary of defense. Mr. Brennan has served as Mr. Obama’s chief counterterrorism adviser, while Mr. Hagel is a former U.S. senator from Nebraska. (Associated Press)
