President Trump joked he wouldn’t mind sending a few reporters into space during a press conference Thursday outside the White House.

The president was discussing attending a rocket launch next week in Cape Canaveral, Florida, that will mark NASA’s first manned mission since 2011.

“I’m thinking about going, that’ll be next week, to the rocket launch,” Mr. Trump said. “I hope you’re all going to join me. I’d like to put you in the rocket and get rid of you for a while.”

NASA is scheduled to launch SpaceX’s Crew Dragon, which will carry two NASA astronauts, from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center destined for the International Space Station on Wednesday.

The flight will mark the last flight test for the Crew Dragon before it enters regular service, The Hill reported.

Vice President Pence told reporters in Florida Wednesday that he would also be attending the launch.

“It’s great to be in Florida because I’m going to be back in a week, because not too far from here, for the first time in almost 10 years, we’re going to send American astronauts back to space in American rockets from Kennedy Space,” Mr. Pence said.
