Model Chrissy Teigen weighed in on her recent dust-up with President Trump on Wednesday, telling daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that she was initially “really angry” and even started to cry when he attacked her on Twitter.

“My heart stopped because at that moment, you know, you’re about to get just the wildest group of people ever,” Ms. Teigen said on “Ellen.”

Ms. Teigen and her husband, musician John Legend, were recently targeted in a series of tweets by the president, who accused the couple of “taking the praise” for the criminal justice reform legislation that he and Republicans helped pass.

“Guys like boring musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is - but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed,” Mr. Trump wrote.

The president’s tweets came after NBC’s Lester Holt hosted a “Dateline” special Sunday night that analyzed U.S. prisons and interviewed Mr. Legend on the subject.

Speaking to Ms. DeGeneres, Ms. Teigen claimed she was “randomly” targeted by Mr. Trump even though she had nothing to do with the special. She later admitted that it wasn’t “totally” random, as she’s been outspoken against the president since 2012.

“John is boring and I do have a filthy mouth,” she acknowledged. “But when the card lands on you that day it’s just really like, ‘Ugh, crap,’ because your whole night’s ruined.

“It was a weird feeling,” she continued. “I was really angry. I think my eyes filled up with water just at the shock of it, that I can’t believe this really happened right now. He just goes on these rants, and usually, it’s very late at night for him, you just wait for him to say something, but you don’t think it’s going to be you.”

Ms. Teigen said she’s now able to laugh about the situation, especially since her profane clapback became a top trending hashtag.
