Roy Cooper

Roy Cooper III (born June 13, 1957, in Nash County, NC) is the 75th and current Democratic Governor of North Carolina. Cooper was first elected in 2016. In 2016, Copper defeated incumbent Republican Pat McCrory, and Libertarian candidate Lon Cecil (Cooper - 49.2%; McCrory - 48.8%; Cecil - 2.19%). Cooper is running for re-election in 2020. Cooper earned his B.A. from North Carolina, Chapel and then a law degree from University of North Carolina School of Law. Cooper previously served as North Carolina's Attorney General, a member of the North Carolina Senate and a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives.
