Jim Justice (b. April 27, 1951, in Charleston, WV) is the 36nd and the current Republican Governor of West Virginia. Justice was first elected in 2016. In 2016, Justice defeated Bill Cole (R) and others (Justice - 49.1%; Cole - 42.3%; other - 8.6%). Justice is running for re-election in 2020. Justice switched party affiliation from Democrat to Republican on August 3, 2017. He earned his B.A. and M.B.A. from Marshall University. He is the wealthiest person in West Virginia. He inherited a coal mining business from his father and built a business empire with over 94 companies, including the Greenbrier, a luxury resort.
