Republican Kevin Hern

Kevin Hern (b. December 4, 1961) is a Republican member of the U.S. House representing Oklahoma's 1st Congressional District. Hern was first appointed and later elected to the U.S. House in 2018 to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Republican Jim Bridenstine. He is seeking reelection to his current seat. In 2018, he won election by defeating Democrat Tim Gilpin (Hern - 59.3%; Gilpin - 40.7%). Hern earned his B.S. Arkansas Tech University, Russellville, AR and a M.B.A., University of Arkansas, Little Rock, AR. Hern initially worked as an aerospace engineer for Rockwell International. He is the owner of a number of McDonald’s restaurants and formerly owned a hog farm.
