Jahana Hayes (b. March 8, 1973, in Waterbury, CT) is a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives representing Connecticut 5th Congressional District. Hayes was first elected to the House in 2018. She is seeking reelection to her current seat. In 2018, she won by defeating Harry Arora (R) (Hayes – 61.2%; Arora – 38.8%). Hayes earned a B.A. from Southern Connecticut State University and a M.A. University of Saint Joseph, West Hartford, Conn. She is a former public school administrator. She is a teacher by profession.
