Democrat John Larson

John Barry Larson (b. July 22, 1948, in Hartford, CT) is a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives to represent Connecticut 1st Congressional District 1. Larson was first elected to the House in 1998. He is seeking reelection to his current seat. In 2018, Larson won the seat by defeating Jennifer Nye (R) and Tom McCormick (G) in (Larson – 63.9%; Nye – 35.0%; McCormick – 1.1%). He earned his B.A. from Central Connecticut University. Larson is a former member and president pro tempore of the Connecticut State Senate, representing the 3rd District. He is a former member of the East Hartford Board of Education and  member of the East Hartford town council. He is a teacher by profession.
