Republican Donald Young

Don Young (b. June 9, 1933, in Meridian, CA) is a Republican member of the U.S. House representing Alaska's At-Large Congressional District.Young became the dean of the U.S. House in December 2017, a title given to the the longest-serving member of the chamber. He was first elected to the U.S. House in a special election in 1973. Young is running for re-election to the U.S. House. In 2018, Young defeated Democrat Alyse Galvin (Young - 53.3%; Galvin - 46.7%). Young served in the U.S. Army and graduated from California State University in Chico, Calif. Young began his political career by serving as Mayor of Fort Yukon, Alaska, from 1964 to 1966. He also served in both houses of the Alaska legislature.
