Republican Louis Gohmert

Louis “Louie” Gohmert Jr. (b. August 18, 1953, Pittsburg, TX) is a Republican member of the U.S. House, representing Texas' 1st Congressional District. Gohmert was first elected to the House in 2004. Gohmert is running for re-election to the U.S. House. In 2018, Gohmert defeated Democrat Shirley McKellar and Libertarian candidate Jeff Callaway (Gohmert - 72.3%; McKellar - 26.3%; Callaway - 1.4%). Gohmert earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and Law degree from Baylor University. He is a veteren of the U.S. Army. He was a lawyer in private practice. Gohmert first served elected office as a District Court Judge for Texas' 7th Judicial District, and later as Chief Justice for Texas 12th Circuit Court of Appeals.
