Democrat G. Butterfield

G.K. Butterfield (b. April 27, 1947, in Wilson, NC) is a Democratic member of the U.S. House representing North Carolina's 1st Congressional District. Butterfield was first elected to this seat in 2004. He is seeking reelection to his current seat. In 2018, Butterfield won election by defeating Roger Allison (R) (Butterfield - 69.8%; Allison - 30.2%). He earned a B.A. from North Carolina Central University and a J.D. from North Carolina Central University. Prior to being elected to the House, Butterfield served as a judge for the Superior Court of North Carolina, as well as the Supreme Court of North Carolina. He is an attorney by profession.
