Democrat Joaquin Castro

Joaquin Castro (b. September 16, 1974, in San Antonio, TX) is a Democratic member of the U.S. House representing Texas's 20th Congressional District. He is seeking reelection to his current seat. Castro was first elected to the House in the general election in 2012. In 2018, Castro defeated Libertarian Jeffrey Blunt (Castro – 80.9%; Blunt – 19.1%). Castro earned a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and later earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Harvard University. After earning his degree he joined a private law practice and was elected to the Texas State House of Representatives 125th District.
