FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Two members of Indiana’s congressional delegation plan to bring federal officials to Fort Wayne to discuss the long-term future of the Air National Guard base in the city.
The offices of Sen. Joe Donnelly and Rep. Jim Banks say the meeting will be aimed at ensuring the strongest possible future for the 122nd Fighter Wing that’s stationed at the Fort Wayne base. A date hasn’t yet been set for the meeting, which will include state and local leaders.
The (Fort Wayne) Journal Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/2qyh0Ck ) the 122nd Fighter Wing flies a squadron of A-10 attack jets and is set for conversion to F-16 fighter jets in coming years. About 1,000 people are assigned to the unit, including about 300 full-time members.
