And fans are now wondering: Is it ‘cause Allen’s a conservative? Well, here’s a thought: Of course it is. Why else?
The network’s side is — silence. The unstated argument? Don’t be a conspiracy theorist. It’s all about the ratings, ratings, ratings.
But then again, ratings for the show, in its sixth season, were top. As Deadline reported, the show was the second-highest comedy this past season, second only to “Modern Family.” And for a contrast in numbers?
“Last Man Standing” brought in 8.1 million viewers. “Modern Family” averaged around 8.7 million.
So quite rightly, fans are wondering — what’s up?
As one tweeted, noted by Fox News: “Last Man Standing was the last thing I was watching on @ABC anyways. Bummed it’s gone, but they can’t handle conservatism apparently. #weak.”
Another: “Wow ABC good job showing free speech by ending a conservative tv show cause you don’t agree with it.
And one more: “I am so upset that #ABC has decided to cancel Last Man Standing because Tim Allen is conservative. It’s funny.”
Allen, a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, has played a conservative voice on his “Last Man Standing” show as well, oftentimes mocking the liberal line of thought and the Democratic Party’s policies — particularly the ones that fuel and fire up the snowflake insensibilities.
The long-time comedian just went on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show in March to say: “You got to be real careful around here [Hollywood]. You get beat up if you don’t believe what everybody else believes. This is like ‘30s Germany.”
