If there was ever a deadly challenge designed for newly elected President Donald Trump, North Korea is it. The hermit regime, which is hell-bent on threatening the United States and its allies in the Pacific with destruction, has just tested a large rocket engine that analysts believe is designed to power an intercontinental ballistic missile, you know, the kind that can destroy a U.S. city in 20 minutes.
The test was carried out in the city of Yun Song and could also be used to launch a satellite into orbit, Fox News reported.
“If they have this new engine, they can design an ICBM around it in a pretty straightforward fashion,” Mike Elleman, the senior fellow for missile defense at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, told Business Insider in May.
“That doesn’t mean it will happen tomorrow, but they’ll be able to test [an ICBM] sooner than I had thought previously possible,” Business Insider reported.
This development comes after the terrifying return of U.S. student Otto Warmbier, who died of a perceived fatal beating or other torture method by North Korea after being in a coma for a year.
Mr. Trump is presented with an existential threat to the United States. The American people must be told of the threat and its seriousness. I am sure our president will rise to this occasion; however, America must be ready for the price that it will need to pay to keep the nation safe. Freedom is not free.
