MORGANTON, N.C. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies in North Carolina say they have arrested two convicted felons on gun possession charges.
Burke County Sheriff Steve Whisenant told The News Herald of Morganton (http://bit.ly/2pmpOvx) 47-year-old David Allen Pearson of Morganton and 34-year-old Michael Allen Wright were charged.
Whisenant said Pearson’s violent criminal history, including his being identified as a gang member, led to the sheriff’s office SWAT team using a “no knock” search warrant to enter the home Thursday. The warrant allows officers to enter a building without knocking or announcing their presence.
The sheriff said use of the no knock warrant was also based on numerous calls to the home, including one on Wednesday for shots being fired.
Both men are jailed on a $25,000 secured bond. It’s not known if either have attorneys.
