Overnight shootings in D.C. leave 2 dead, 4 wounded

Two people died and four suffered injuries in two separate shootings in the District.

Police said someone opened fire on a group of people watching a fireworks show on the 5000 block of First Street Northwest at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

One male and two juveniles in serious condition were transported to the hospital where one of the victims, 19 year-old Crevontai Key of Northeast D.C., was pronounced dead.

A fourth victim was taken to the hospital by a family member where he was treated and released.

The victims’ status is unknown.

Early Thursday morning, another fatal shooting occurred on the 600 block of Morton Street Northwest.

Julius Ellington, 35, of Northwest D.C. died from wounds received in the 2:25 a.m. incident. Another victim is in stable condition at an area hospital.

There are no suspects in either incident.
