Safety Reed Doughty isn’t going to challenge RG3’s job anytime soon, but he’ll display his arm strength Friday night when he throws out the ceremonial first pitch at the Potomac Nationals’ doubleheader against the Salem Red Sox.

“I don’t care if I throw it over the backstop,” he said Thursday. “I’m not going to dink it in there.”

The P-Nats, the Washington Nationals’ Class-A affiliate, are hosting National Kidney Foundation Awareness night. First pitch against the Boston Red Sox’ affiliate is scheduled for 6:05 in Woodbridge. Doughty and other Redskins are expected to sign autographs during the game.

The P-Nats’ website has all the details you need.

Doughty is one of the faces of NKF in the D.C. area. His son, Micah, was born in 2006 with kidney failure. Micah received a transplant from his mother. Doughty reported Thursday that the family is doing well.
