Terps add Aussie specialist to football freshman class

Specialist Brad Craddock joined Maryland’s football recruiting class, the school announced Thursday.

Craddock, an Australian who can both placekick and punt, is one of 24 true freshman on this season’s roster.

Craddock will compete with two scholarship specialists (senior Nick Ferrara and redshirt freshman Nate Renfro) and walk-on Michael Tart for playing time.

It is not the first time coach Randy Edsall has looked to Australia for kicking help. Early in Edsall’s tenure at Connecticut, Adam Coles was a multi-year starter at punter after playing Australian rules football.
