Capitals announce preseason schedule (pending lockout)

Before the Stanley Cup Final began, commissioner Gary Bettman decried the negativity about the NHL’s upcoming collective bargaining and the speculation that there will be another lockout. That is certainly the prevailing opinion around hockey, but teams are going about the offseason and planning as if everything will go smoothly.

On Tuesday the Washington Capitals did that, announcing their 2012-13 preseason schedule that includes the opener against the Boston Bruins at Verizon Center on Sept. 25 and the Baltimore Hockey Classic against the Columbus Blue Jackets at 1st Mariner Arena on Sept. 26.

The current CBA expires Sept. 15.

Here’s a look at the full schedule:

Sept. 25 vs. Bruins, 7 p.m.

Sept. 26 vs. Blue Jackets, 7 p.m. - Baltimore Hockey Classic, 1st Mariner Arena

Sept. 30 at Red Wings, 5 p.m.

Oct. 1 at Blue Jackets, 7 p.m.

Oct. 3 at Bruins, 7 p.m.

Oct. 5, vs. Predators, 7 p.m.

Oct. 7 vs. Red Wings, 5 p.m.
